Sparsely Traveled Roads

The road less traveled
is a lonely road sometimes.
I wish I had companions
around me
to wish me well,
celebrate my successes.
But the road is barren
the path well-worn
with successful
footprints of those
that have gone before.
But now I am here
alone on this road
with only
my inspiration
my imagination
to set a course.
"Where are we headed", I ask?
My creativity answers blandly,
"Ahead, over the horizon.
Don't know what's there.
Haven't been there before.
But that's where we're headed."
Blindly, I obey.
Innovation is sometimes
harder than rut travel.
Especially if you're not
used to it. It's much
more fun
and rewarding though.
