Confronting Fears
Fear yes, is a paper tiger.
I have fears, lots of fears.
But does that stop me
from doing anything
I might want to do?
Not always.
Not even usually.
Or else
I wouldn't get
a whole lot
accomplished.
beyond my comfort zone,
beyond where I get
really scared
for whatever reasons
my mind makes up--
valid or invalid--
makes no difference
and I choose
to go through the fear-
go forward anyway-
those are the times
when viola!
I get something
accomplished
that matters to me.
Something that is not
just a wisp in the wind-
something that pulls me
out of myself-
not being cowered
in the face of the
worst fear: failure,
rejection, hurt, loss--
discourageousless,
I act on my previously
set intentions.
